Edi Truell – rustic in the country
I hadn’t expected to have to move my early morning meeting tomorrow , but I did , to listen to Edi Truell bang on time on Radio 4.
You should be able to find out hear
Following Edi’s comments in the Sky story on DB pensions he was asked to speak on the Today programme . He was brief, pertinent and an ambassador for what we expect from Starmer tonight and Reeves on Wednesday night.
Prime Ministers do not follow in after Chancellors unless there is something good in the air. Edi has been promoting what Government has in mind for some time,
The business of finance goes hand in hand with pensions if you’re Truell or if you are Reeves.
I find the sums involved quite astonishing with the estimate of surplus in DB schemes being £160 bn – too many zeros for my failing brain.
If you are the kind of person who found 7.15 a good time of the day, you should tune in to Starmer tonight and Reeves on Wednesday. Edi is an interesting chap with a sharp brain when it comes to zeros. He’s well worth a listen if you can play back.
What his appearance suggests is that people are taking Reeves expected announcements seriously. I’m pleased about that. If you read my mails, you’ll know why,
Here’s one of the old cronies who I hang out with. I asked him what he expected from the Chancellor. His response was as grumpy as I hoped.
I expect on pensions she will
(1) repeat what she has said(2) spin stuff based on what will be in the Bill and how it will work wonders. Hard to see it will be true but that’s life.(3) say something vague on DB to stress that it has not been forgottenI hope you are having a quiet week.
How can I have a quiet week with all this bonkers stuff going on?

a noted gardener in the City,
If you missed this, you can catch Edi’s interview on BBC Sounds – Radio 4 – Today and then scroll forward to 07:13.
Thanks Oldie
