Which of these versions of my Nest pot am I to believe?
This one is from my latest Nest dashboard and tells me how much I have today.

This one is from the Pensions Dashboard and is also from today.

Ok – so which version do I believe? If I don’t access my Nest account I will see £21,419.60 with no information about when this relates to. But if I go to Nest’s own dashboard, the figure at over £39,000 is getting on for twice that amount. If I go on the Nest pension dashboard , I get no income figure and if I go to the opening page of my dashboard account I just get an income from my pot.
Would I be able to make sense of my pension dashboard retirement income based on an half of what I should have got? I have to wait for a Nest SMPI which isn’t on my Nest dashboard despite it being put on the Pensions Dashboard (albeit very out of date).
How can we possibly expect ordinary people to trust the dashboard if they know what their Nest pot is worth a very different amount. How can ordinary people work out how much income they get from their Nest pot when it is based on an outdated figure and could be twice as much?
The pensions dashboard is helpful in explaining what my pension pot is. But it makes no mention of when the information was calculated nor that it may be an out of date pot value nor where I can get a more accurate value.

Well it would be helpful if I had information about my pot and income that wasn’t very out of date. Now read this post by Richard Smith
I shouldn’t boast , when helping people pick pensions, I was given a lifetime award by the CIPP at this event so confirm that it is full of good people who I worked for when Pension PlayPen assessed the capacity of workplace pensions to do their job. We did not have an assessment of linkage to the dashboard on the results of our searches but if we’d had my kind of result , I’d have made that I gave Nest low scores.
I know that Nest will point out that they have 1.4m savers who they serve but we do pay them for the privilege and they still owe us money for helping them set up and set out 15 years ago. As Richard says
We spend ages TALKING about adequacy, but poor systems make me wonder if we actually care? Talk is cheap, right?
I know that I’m just a tester and that things will get better but I wonder if Nest has the capacity to catch up? Will it be able to send the Pensions Dashboard a number adjacent to what I get on the Nest dashboard?
I am a month away from my 65th birthday, this kind of thing is important to me and those like me.

They look like they are having fun!
The intention for dashboard board and the potential are great. However, this shows that there are insufficient guidelines rails around calculations and valuations. There will be some values calculated in real time, some 13 months earlier.
In addition, when I went on to dashboard, it showed possible matches. Go through the merry go round of contacting the providers – no information and did not know about dashboard. If people do not have trust I what they are seeing, it will be hard to build that trust later.
The worry is that large providers (including the Government owned Nest) are treating the Pensions Dashboard as a compliance item and not a way to reach their millions of savers, I think the issue here is with providers and not dashboard!
