Can small DB Pension Schemes prosper? A video explores

Here is the video of Maggie Rodger’s and Bobby Riddaway’s conversation and their answers to our questions yesterday

The slides will follow.

A further discussion needs to be had as to whether small closed DB schemes should be sponsored by single employers . Whether consolidation into a superfund or closure through an insured buy out, alternatives must should be considered by trustees and sponsors.

  1. John Mather says:

Clearly dedicated professionals are to be congratulated for applying their long term experience for the benefit of the schemes they guide. Worrying is the personal liability they risk.

Similar risk transfer is occurring in the roll of the personal representative who is reporting pension assets liable to IHT

I am concerned at the loss of personalisation for those who have made a success of the accumulation phase and the confiscation of the source of deferred pay from individual funds in surplus.

Change is inevitable but do be careful of what you wish for
