Thanks to Sophie Dapin, who you’d never guess is an actuary! I mean this as a compliment! I’m going to see her talk next week but don’t have to wait as I’ve found this 8 minute clip thanks to Laura Blows of Pension Age.
Last week I explained how much I was enjoying Alison Hatchett’s discussion with Kim Nash about the prospect of being CDC trustees.
One of the things that’s happened since October of last year is that CDC has become a workplace pension that isn’t exclusive anymore. You don’t have to be Royal Mail, you don’t have to be male! For ten years I’ve been in male rooms listening to male actuaries and lawyers explaining the actuarial and legal aspects of CDC.
If you listen to Sophie Dapin, you get a different perspective. Sophie talks to people who have yet to set up CDC but want the reassurance that it is a sensible choice.
I was speaking with Alison last Thursday and asked her if she was an advocate for CDC and she sensibly replied, she was an advocate for choice including CDC.
It’s this kind of balance that I have to learn! I can learn from the even approach of women like the above-mentioned, Helen Draper at LCP and other women who are leading the discussion. Thankfully we’ve got a few at Pensions Mutual to tie me down!
