Oh yes New York consumers are reckoned savvy – they probably think we Londoners are too. But what ties us together is we are stupid and funny!
I am a fan of Pension Bee, they are a successful pension company because they get and stay on savers sides and sooner or later they will pay pensions as every pension savings company will. How they get there is their business, I would love to help but they’ll figure it out themselves!
In the meantime, we Brits can have a laugh at our friends across the pond. One guy says “I studied finance but I don’t know what I’m doing”. Another guy took all his retirement money and blew it in three years. They know enough to say 401K, Roth IRA and 2 mill estimates but they’re system is even more chaotic than ours and they’ll need Pension Bee even more than we do!
Watch our American friends and realise that what we are trying to do, using our workplaces and insurance companies and master trusts is aimed at the young people who want to retire but really haven’t got a clue. If any company has taken on the tic-toc generation and got them thinking seriously in Britain it is Pension Bee.
We have a single state that more or less brings four nations together under one pension system. This is not the case in America where society is disperse and where views of the future depends on what ideology you follow. Our cohesion, their diversity. Their dynamism and growth our desire for order and good governance. All these things might be seen as making America different.
But when you listen to these kids (and a few older folk) talking about what they want, there is still the same wish to have money later on when the dynamism wears out. Putting some money away when you can , so it comes back to you when you’re done? I’m listening to Bruce Springsteen (7 new albums of old stuff not released). I am hearing these pleading voices that are there on this video. Same thing, give me something to live for!
In case anyone doesn’t think it can be done, Pension Bee are showing it can be done. Here is a British consumer finance company that has listed on the London Stock Exchange and expanded into America to help them with problems that we are better organised to solve.

I know these guys (mainly women actually) and I’ve been to watch Brentford with them (the least corporate hospitality I’ve ever had).
I take my hat off to Pension Bee and wish them well in New York and all over those divided States of America! May they bring happiness for the future for the young of heart in that country as they are doing in Britain.
Much the same in New York as London.
We need to save, when we get to my age, we need to spend. We have to be tough and resilient to do it, but we have to put money away and sensible enough not to blow our wad when we get to an age. Most of all, we need to work with people who know how to make our money work for us and aren’t going to take the Michael to help themselves to our pensions!
New Yorkers like us Londoners need Pension Bees!
