It’s the bombshell we never wanted to see fall! This blog has lived off Cumbo stories for as long as Cumbo has commanded the FT pensions desk and her departure will be a great loss, not just to pensions, but to me!
All is not lost!
It’ll be a wrench leaving pensions, as I’ve loved covering this topic & found it hugely rewarding. I’ve also made many friends along the way. But I’m looking
forward to a fresh reporting challenge.I expect pensions will still pop up though as there’s #AlwaysAPensionsAngle 3/

She is survived by her youthful protégé – Calum Kapoor ; a relative baby but one with the capacity to step into Cumbo’s shoes in time. I hope I don’t put the mockers on his candidature, he’s a good’un.
Jo Cumbo
Jo is at heart a Nick Cave loving goth with a passionate energy which I have seen on display at East by East in Victoria Park.
She is a fearsome person to be on the wrong side of (I have regularly sinned).
But she is someone who I call a friend and I am really pleased to see the eulogies that are coming her way from so many good people on social media
She will be greatly missed in pensions and by the many people who she campaigned for.
