It is time that the Prime Minister was definitive about leasehold. This criticism of what his Government has done so far is accurate and painful for leaseholders to read. Despite the work of a few campaigners that include Lords of the Realm there has been no improvement to the lot of leaseholders.
We need change now.
They said they would abolish leasehold within 100 days. Then they said by end of Parliament. Then they said they wouldn’t completely abolish it. Now they’re saying they will dismantle it. In the meantime @mtpennycook has delivered nothing meaningful, other than more warm words. https://t.co/SQbIJ2SPSR

Watch the video and weep
.@Keir_Starmer did us dirty.
Days before standing down, he gave Big Money a massive concession.
So leaseholders stay ground rent slaves.
Don’t let him win!
Or he’ll box Burnham in.
Say NO to “Quid Pro Quo Leases”.

There are two classes of property holders in this country. People are renting because they cannot sell their properties. People are falling behind on their mortgages because they cannot afford to pay their service charges and their their leasehold ground rents.
This blog is about pensions but it is about property holding too. Recent work by Standard Life and PPI urges us to reconsider the rules that make leasehold property ownership a threat to our pension contributions
The pension industry has many conferences in the autumn and I hope that they will start thinking of property rental and ownership on its agenda. It is an issue for the Trades Union Congress next month and for the Labour and other party conferences.
