We won’t remember last night for Messi or Argentina. They only came to life after finding themselves behind but this time they were against a team that got its tactics right. We will remember the 6-4 win over France as our “plate” win!
Yesterday was a good day for the Commonwealth , especially Ryan Fox up from New Zealand who lifted the Claret Jug and is the Open winner. His final hole looked a win for golf as much as Spain’s was a win for football
Ryan Fox a golfing star – the sunshine shining on cricket at Lords. Commonwealth fun for England and India and now the Commonwealth games. What a summer of sport.
We will look back at these days as “golden”. We need not dwell on the bitterness we say when the World Cup Final ended.
Now to get back a reasonable pattern of sleep. I think London can cope with this week’s weather!

I watched the second half.
(i) Spain deserved it. Argentina remain dirty thugs and killjoys.
(ii) If the England team had won its semi-final Spain would have eviscerated them.
Be thankful for small mercies.
