What a day of fun and night of sport!

I’d been out the pub most of the afternoon enjoying the Windsor Ukulele Orchestra ripping through a two hour set in celebration of it being a July Christmas.

To remind me that it was not December I needed 30 degrees of heat and a cricket tournament in Birmingham where Northants beat Hampshire.

I got home to watch a bit of golf (I caught Tommy Fleetwood’s disappointing last few holes)  what a fantastic place to live if you’re called Tommy or Damian

It got to 7pm and then on to the cycling on channel 5!

I’d watched a few races at Newbury, Newmarket and Cartmel on my phone (lost all five I betted on – you don’t need to know it but I include it for texture).

Somewhere , there was a comical rugby match between England and  Argentina that involved a lot of grown men getting sin-binned for committing sins to each other (wonder why?)

And then we had a game of football which should be remembered as a ten goal fest (but having done a lot of swimming I was fast asleep (and couldn’t be wakened).

I feel a fool for missing what I had waited 60 years for, a classic involving England

And this the all-time classic photo from the night

All this played out in the sunshine of this fantastic summer. I know I shouldn’t say that as it is a sign of climate change which is all our fault but I can’t remember a summer of sport that the sun shone on like this one!
