“Sole mates IV- the video”. LCP walks us through the trustee landscape

LCP’s Nathalie Sims and Laura Amin expertly take us on a ramble through the professional trustee’s current landscape, pointing to the polarisation between traditional self-owned and the new Private Equity owned businesses.

Along the way we have pleasant diversions by way of piquant comments and questions from Con Keating, Peter Cameron Brown, Derek Scott ,Rosalind O’Connor , Padraig Floyd , Maggie Rogers,Bob Compton , Adrian Boulding and several others.

The ramble was actually led with expert guidance though it felt enjoyable and energetic for all the erudition of Sole Mates IV.

We got to our inevitable conclusion that the non-professional trustee is interchangeable in many people’s (not least the Regulator’s) mind withe “unprofessional trustee”. It is a necessary feature of a world that still has over 5,000 DB schemes that trustees need to take on a quasi regulatory role and sadly the scope for trustees to act with discretion and imagination seems to be diminishing.

But watch for yourself and if you were there and participating and I missed you on the role of honour, worry not, your contribution is forever captured on you tube and on this blog.

LCP and the Pension PlayPen

Thanks to our two expert and unpaid guides. I hope you are rewarded by your partnership for properly representing them as bastions of independence in an increasingly conflicted world.

And thanks in particular to Laura , who was one of my interrogators when I spoke to LCP’s podcast team last week in Liverpool. Some of the method behind this blogger’s madness is explained therein!
