New Capital Consensus; focussing on collectivising risk for more productive investment.

I enjoy the work of New Capital Consensus. Yesterday they picked up on the work of Ros Altmann in widening the scope of superfunds to include insurers.  As this market widens, we will see small and damaged DB schemes merge with stronger DB schemes for whom the intent is to pay pensions but the cost of running the scheme themselves in prohibitive.

The superfund is a vehicle that can put back the money in DB to work for Britain. Ros Altmann and New Capital Consensus are as one .  I agree that insurers should focus on helping schemes who want to carry on.

Last week they produced a report on the problems associated with transferring risks of providing pensions from employers to their staff.

This has led to an excellent seminar yesterday lunchtime, led by the DC Trustee Simon Ellis, the FT pension reporter Alan Livsey and New Capital’s entrepreneurial Founder Ashok Gupta.

I hope to provide a fuller report on this event shortly.
