For those interested in New Capital Consensus’ meeting on effective investment , Chatham House have provided a video.
“How do we revive investment flows? Lessons learnt from the UK Pensions
BillAct”
- There is much here that you can skip over if it doesn’t interest you, but I would urge you to listen to the initial talks by James Palmer and Ashok Gupta
- and the panel.
- the panel comprised former City Minister and current Treasury Committee member the Rt Hon John Glen MP,
- Treasury Committee member John Grady MP,
- SNP Work and Pensions spokesperson
- Kirsty Blackman MP,
- and Lib Dem Business spokesperson Sarah Olney MP.
The event was chaired by the economist and former treasury minister Kitty Ussher.
This was the format of an excellent event.
How good it is to see those who participated , listed.
Ashok Gupta has accepted Jo Cumbo’s challenge and I will make it my job to get this to a less elite audience. I reckon stage one is sharing this video. Stage two will be to get the question to the 14 million savers into Nest and the other savers into workplace pensions.
What we need is a Fiona Bruce led Pensions Questionnaire. Can we have it?

Spellchecked typo in your last line, Henry. Questionnaire -> Question Time.
Only pointing this out because I’m all too familiar with that horrible feeling from spotting a typo in my own blog that’s been there for years and wondering how I missed it in my checking first time around.
If you ever see me wandering around with my flies undone, you just let me know, OK?
