Today, for the second time in a week, I will have to hold my nose as I travel through Sherborne on my way to Huish Park, to celebrate Yeovil Town’s recent promotion to the National Conference.
I have been taunted by (near) Sherborne resident Sally Palmer. For two weeks I have smarted but recent news from Gloucester concerning Yeovil’s promotion leaves me no choice but to speak out

Entitled of Sherborne
Sally Palmer, I maintain that for the little good Sherborne does, it is no more than a bus stop near Yeovil.
People in Sherborne are entitled. Sherborne has lots of posh private schools and it’s full of silly old people who read the Telegraph and woke young people who read the Guardian and it has cleansed itself of its ruffians who spend their time in Yeovil.
At its heart, Sherborne is a shit-hole.
No entitlement for Yeovil
Hurrah for Yeovil, it has nothing going for it but its wonderful people. Down with Sherborne with its sense of entitlement and its woeful pavements.
I am not singling out Sherborne, the same can be said of Bruton and some areas of Frome (but not those inhabited by the Parsons family or the Frome Glovers or Frome’s Wonky Donkey sanctuary. I am not talking about the old Frome , the Frome of Colin (Herby) Dredge.

Sherborne turns its nose up at football and I am turning my nose up at Sherborne. This afternoon I will be at the Huish to watch Yeovil take on Dartford.
Today is a real pinch me moment day. Beyond excited to bring you the championship presentation… It promises to be a fabulous day! ⚽💚🤍💚🤍#YTFC pic.twitter.com/TF3zbI8dH2

Sherborne’s a shit-hole – I want to go home!
Somerset and Dorset Family History Society had its HQ in Sherborne. No more. It has moved to Broadway House, Peter St, Yeovil BA20 1PN
Thanks Jim – I have inserted a section of this blog praising your Frome (though I hear that Frome is moving in the Bruton/Sherborne direction!
not to my knowledge
Henry, I believe you went to Bryanston, is there not an element of school rivalry here?
