Comment of the week/month – possibly year goes to “John Richards” who appears to be a Cornish financial adviser (apologies to all the John Richards who he’s not).

I guess that at 5.38 on a Friday afternoon John may have been pouring his first G&T of the weekend and a little more frank than he might have been at work but I love his approach.
If it gets moderated over the next few days , it will remain on this blog as as charming a proposition as you are likely to see in a financial daily.
You might ask what prompted this outpouring of affection. The object of this proposal is

Who has written an exceptionally insightful piece on the cost of living as a single journalist in London. I omitted the word “female” as that doesn’t seem relevant to the financial argument.
It is also a piece about independence and here I think gender does enter into it. Being independent as a woman is tougher , not just because of the latent threat of male violence, but because of social norms
Dylan’s “Sweetheart like you” , explores social norms rather better than I can
“What’s a sweetheart like you ,doing in a dump like this”
