I am still in recovery from the experience in Brighton on the last day of July. I am not talking about the publication of the CDC Code by the Pensions Regulation or the departure of Josephine Cumbo from the Financial Times. I am talking of Nick Cave’s appearance in Preston Park and the two and a half hours that the best part of 50,000 of us stood in rapture.
On Wednesday I got thrown back into musical bliss with this great prom (not that all the proms are now catch up able when you can’t sleep with the heat).
Q.What is the connection between the Cave gig and the promenades?

Just when I thought I was coming out of that rapt state, I got to hear Ute Lemper who was on Jools Holland’s “Earlier” program (12 noon on Saturday).

It’s a good program and becomes a great one when Ute Lemper turns up as Jools’ guest.
You want to know why it sent me back to my Cave rapture!
In case you haven’t worked out the connection, press the red button as the Little Water Song is a Nick Cave composition and the recording of Ute singing it, more than a quarter of this century old.
My son is threatening to have “into my arms” as his wedding song. We stood side by side when this song ended Nick Cave and the Bad Seed’s set.
As if listening to these great pieces of music was not enough (as if the Proms were not enough), the BBC sent out “Paul Heaton at the BBC” on a Saturday evening. You can watch the 90 minutes of great Paul Heaton here.
As far as I know, Heaton and Cave don’t play each other’s songs. Though they both are Christians, they don’t sing each other’s hymns! But one thing they have in common, is a fan club of British fans of which I am one!
Ok, I know that this is a disparate selection of fantastic music but it all happened to me in a week (almost) and I’ve never had a week listening like this!
