Too little, too late: Experiences of income adequacy in later life

There are increasing numbers of older people living with incomes that fall short of recognised measures of minimum living standards.

Ensuring an income that enables an older person to live with dignity, choice and purpose should be a priority. With incomes tending to be fixed for most people once they reach State Pension age, the role of the State Pension and social security system is critical.

 

This report from Independent Age makes for a frightening read. While we can plan for generations some way from retirement , the shortcomings of income for those well retired are.
