Britain may not have no more passionate supporter of the DB pension continuing than William McGrath. But the DWP and Pension Minister are running him close with their press release insisting that pension schemes that can continue should!
Over the past weeks the Pension PlayPen has been featuring voices such as Derek Benstead (CDC as a means to run on), Nick Lyons for what run on can do through investments and now we have William McGrath to tell us what schemes who can – should do!
Surely those employers and trustees wondering whether to sell out to insurers should look again at how pensions can make a difference not just to sponsors and trustees – but most importantly – to members.
