I’m hanging my head as I write this as I am quite sure Janette Weir has reason to laugh in my face and it’s only that she’s kind- that she doesn’t.
I’ve started on what , for me , is an epic investigation into the way we behave towards retirement and retirement money. I’m talking about the
At yesterday’s DG Conference I commended this great of work in front of all the people in the hall and Nike Tross of the FCA. I could sense a slight murmur on the other side of the room and at the break Janette came over and said
“You knew didn’t you?”.
“Knew what?”
“That my partner wrote the Financial Lives Survey 24!”
Oh dear!
- I didn’t and I do so hope that Janette takes this message to her other half. This is a great piece of work and though I have only been a fan of it this year, I understand that it has been published for several years and the results of previous years appear as comparisons throughout the 162 pages of the pension section.
Janette was a star guest of this spectacularly good day (thanks DG publications), Janette appeared alongside Paul Todd (Nest) , James Fouracre (Ruffer) and Jonathan Cribb (IFS).
Ok I’m not a big fan of the IFS but well done Jonathan and – well I’m not good at hiding this – I like James Fouracre and am pleased Ruffer are back on the form and I’ve just stuck all my spare money in Nest to boost my pension – thank you Paul Todd. I am actually a fan of Paul Todd and Elizabeth Fernando and even Mark Fawcett (though we had a row 12 years ago!).
Why people matter so much..
Back to the FCA’s paper, Nike Tross told us in response to my comments that FCA staff sit around and take the stuff in – in groups. I wish that happens elsewhere, I asked Julian Lyne to give it some time. I’d put it on every member of TPR’s desk.
People’s voices don’t get heard much , especially in posh conferences in Bishopsgate. We have FCA paying Janette’s other half to do this work and I rather wish we’d spent half an hour on the 162 pages of brilliant work
Why you’ll get more from me.
I was amazed that Paul Todd, my hero from Nest, told me he’d come to this year’s paper via my blog! Wow!
Well if you haven’t read it yet and are wondering what to do next, here’s the 162 pages and if you want to download it and print it off, here’s the link.
