I stayed up into early this morning (something I rarely do) to watch Rory McIlroy and Bryson DeChambeau play each other to a sparkling Saturday conclusion

Can it be that good tonight? Can we see two expressions of golf that are so different.

Here is our boy Rory

He is charismatic and plays , at his best, with fluency and grace.

Bryson is a scientist, studying the options he has open to him and exercising his body with a brutality that is not in McIlroy’s charisma.

There has never, in recent times, between what USA and Great Britain stand for, nor a difference between these two golfers.

But let’s be glued to our sets this evening, to work out who can overcome the other.
