At our next event, Jean-Paul Grenade (JP) from Just Group will be presenting how they have brought innovation to the decumulation market.
They say they have “exploded the traditional annuity into tiny pieces, and re-built something that looks a bit like an annuity inside the investment platforms used by advisors. It behaves like a fund, inside a platform”.
Could it be much more beneficial than merely a stream of guaranteed income for life?. If you swap out some of the traditional bonds (in a classic 60/40 equity/bond portfolio) and replace them with their new asset, Just Group modelling shows that portfolio sustainability and legacy values are improved!.
The more sceptical may consider this a way for IFAs to get embedded value for their business from recommending an annuity.
This modelling has started to turn a number of heads in the industry including quite a few investment professionals. Last week Copia DFM launched some new Retirement Portfolios that use this new asset…..so it could have legs!
