Rock for Ukraine today- Update on pre-gig party

Mark Polson, Ian Beestin,, Jenny Smythe, Nigel Ross-Scott and Chris Budd Plus David Crozier, Shannon Currie who’ve been ferrying gear out to Ukraine

There is a certain buzz within the ward of Farringdon Within as we anticipate the arrival of Rock for Ukraine (rockukraine.co.uk) to Rock For Ukraine tomorrow (Thursday 23rd Feb). The date’s important, it’s the eve of Russia’s invasion and the gig’s important to – it’ll be a first chance  for most of us to see this lot play live.

***Update ***

I had planned to be in local hostelry the Cockpit in Ireland Yard prior to the gig. I will no longer be buying drinks at this pub.

Instead I will be in posh pub, the Anthropologist down Gresham Street.

Venue: The Anthologist, 58 Gresham Street, Bank, London, EC2V 5AY

Date/Time: Thursday 23rd February 5:30pm.

Drinks and nibbles are being supplied by DG publishing who are keen to pass this on to the pensions glitterati – which means you.

So I look forward to not being in the Cockpit, not buying drinks but instead to pass on savings to Rock for Ukraine.

Tickets still available

If you are a twat (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) worker in the City or if you happen to be in the vicinity tomorrow, and you are not in possession of a ticket, then you are invited to buy one on this link.

Rock for Ukraine (rockukraine.co.uk)

We’re looking forward to seeing you on Thursday!!

And if you are coming – this message is from the band.

Good evening, We are delighted you can join us on Thursday at Stationers Hall at Rock For Ukraine.

How poignant is this going to be, on the eve of the anniversary of the start of the war, and given what’s in the news every day?

So thank you for your support – it is much appreciated.

We are sure it will be a great night, so just wanted to update you on the running order and logistics.

Timings:

5.30 pre-gig drinks in the Anthropologist (details above)

7.00 Doors open and bar open

7.45 Official start and welcome – including some words from a Ukrainian Refugee. It is what tonight is all about

Pizza served

8.00 Consumer Duty

8.45 An update on the situation in Moldova by Paul Hutchings of Refugee Support Europe

Auction led by the one and only Tom Baigrie of Lifesearch

9.45 The return of Consumer Duty

11.00 Carriages – “Time for bed”, said Zebedee

Food

We have arranged for Pizza to be served, and there will be a meat option, a vegetarian option and a vegan/gluten free option. But the catering is deliberately basic – we are spending our money on support for refugees!

If you really need more food, we will be right in the centre near St Pauls – there are loads of places around!

Location

Stationers Hall is in Ave Maria Lane, London, EC4M 7DD. A massive 4-minute walk through Paternoster Square from St Pauls underground.

Dress Code

We are expecting a smattering of Blue and Yellow to support Ukraine, but an old Pink Floyd / Led Zep / Take That T-Shirt work just as well….

Auction

You will see there is an Auction.

Frankly, some amazing stuff has been donated by some amazing people.

If you click through here, https://rockukraine.co.uk/#auction you will see what I mean.

Have a look and come with space on your Credit Card. You could get something brilliant and the refugees get the benefit – I think that’s a Win-Win?

So come, have fun, support the brilliant band and know you are helping those in need

Bizarrely, the Stationers is the blogger’s livery company, so I’m doubly chuffed!
