The French are out on strike over pensions and Macron has a Maggie makeover from protestors.

Do they mean us?

Us “rosbifs” are clearly no friends to pensioners  but this time the French will beat off this malign British threat “Nous vaincrons” – indeed – usually at football.

The trouble is , the French aren’t winning much else  at the moment and so a little xenophobia is understandable.

But it really isn’t going to sort out a nation’s pension problems.

I’ve written about the French pension system and the fact that it’s in need of reform here.

Maybe they were mis-sold retirement but they need to have that conversation with themselves.

Ironically, we could do well to have that conversation with ourselves.
