Is twitter a democracy or a company – how will you get your views?

We have been reminded recently of what oligarchs like to do with their spare cash. Russian business people (men) bought television stations, Elon Musk is now the largest single shareholder in twitter.

Musk owns 9.2% of Twitter, more than  four times the shares of Twitter founder Jack Dorsey.

The question we might ask is “does Musk think he is buying a company or his version of democracy?” Versions of democracy are aspirations of oligarchs, witness Robert Maxwell.

Twitter clearly presented Musk with a challenge, a different version of democracy

We await news on what the new democratic twitter will be. But we should not expect Musk to be buying into Twitter just for commercial reasons, it’s clearly personal and we are set to feel much more of Musk’s personality as a result.

Choose your oligarchs carefully, other platforms are available!

I have never used Twitter. Now Musk is involved with it I never will! (Tesla ownership is also not a viable option for me, fortunately other EVs are available, if only I had that much money!)
