JacktheJouneyman raced for the first time at Ludlow yesterday and a hardy cross-section of the Pension PlayPen was there to see him finish fourth.
Coming into the home straight the four year old had pulled for most of the race but had finally been settled by Patrick Corbett.
Shaping to take the race from John Hanlon’s High Stratos and Nicky Henderson‘s My Wigwam or Yours, your horse took one look at the whip and took a detour to the far rail which lost him the race.
The kind term for this is “running green” , the less kind term used to describe horses employing such antics is “monkey”.
As someone who has no great love of being whipped, I am on the horse’s side on this one!
Clearly this is a nag with a future, wehether his long-term future is with the PlayPen will depend on whether he goes to the sales as an unlucky loser or whether trainer, Rebecca Curtis gives him a chance to redeem himself.
You will be kept informed!
