“Financial Services is Britain’s oil – it corrupts from within” – Bryn Davies

Forget everything they warned you about a “Corbynista” and watch this video instead

Bryn Davies is a reasonable man with firm views about what pensions should do and the audience that he got from Pension PlayPen made up in quality for what it lost in quantity.

There isn’t much to be learned from someone who has spent 50 years thinking about how to deliver pensions to the British public if all you are targeting is assets under management.

But if you want to understand the makings of our amazing state pension , watch this video

If you want a view on what won’t be in the Labour party manifesto, listen here. Ming Vases are being ferried around , the Labour party is showing no sign of wanting to break them.

If you want to hear some contrarian views on auto-enrolling low earners, consumer duty and the enforcement system that goes with it, listen to this

Andy Haldane (no less) has talked about the over-financialization of the UK economy, It is our curse.

“The financial services industry is like having too much oil, it destroys the economy from within”

Bryn may have an allotment on his twitter feed but after 50 years serving members of our pension schemes he is showing no sign of slowing down.

This Facebook post from Al Rush ( who classes himself two stages to the right of Genghis Khan) shows how Bryn’s humanity breaks down common prejudice.

The House of Lords is forming a Parliamentary group on financial regulation, and is taking a very close interest in BSPS. At the forefront is a Lord who was ennobled by Jeremy Corbyn of all people, and he visited the FCA with me at the end of last year. I am meeting with them again online next week

Bryn is a national treasure. Few prophets are honoured in their own lifetime and few Lords are more modest, personable and funny.

Bryn is – ironically – one of the best reasons for keeping the House of Lords.
