Our hero – of whom we’re proud
On 1st January this year, Her Majesty The Queen made me a Knight of the Realm. On 27th January, President Donald Trump seems to have made me an alien.
I am a British citizen who has lived in America for the past six years – working hard, contributing to society, paying my taxes and bringing up our four children in the place they now call home. Now, me and many others like me are being told that we may not be welcome. It’s deeply troubling that I will have to tell my children that Daddy might not be able to come home – to explain why the President has introduced a policy that comes from a place of ignorance and prejudice.
I was welcomed into Britain from Somalia at eight years old and given the chance to succeed and realise my dreams. I have been proud to represent my country, win medals for the British people and receive the greatest honour of a knighthood. My story is an example of what can happen when you follow polices of compassion and understanding, not hate and isolation.

So now you have finally seen the light with trump how about you take a look at the behaviour and policies of the party your great drinking buddy nigel promoted Henry? What do you think of his poster with queues of migrants, what do you think that says? What do you think that represents to millions of Jews?
I am appalled by the response from our government. To argue that because of May’s “special relationship” we have no worry as British citizens will be treated differently shows a total absence of any moral principle. Quite apart from the question of how long this “special relationship” will endure, as it is entirely at the whim of Trump, there is a fundamental ethical principle being trodden underfoot and May is now complicit in that. The State Visit invitation should be rescinded.
I wouldn’t call Farage my great drinking buddy – he has a perspective but his definition of Trump as a necessary agent of change – extends beyond mine. The fundamental ethical principle that Trump is trampling underfoot cannot be changed.
Both Farage and Trump are necessary agents of change in other respects.
“Both Farage and Trump are necessary agents of change in other respects”, please explain Henry because all I can see is that any change is going to for the worst.
I must admit there is little I like about the US direction but I fancy Uk post Europr
