In my 13 years with my partner Stella, I cannot remember being quite so much in love as I was yesterday.
She will not thank me for saying it, but her decision to accompany me on a cold and windy Saturday to Kingsmeadow, the home of Kingstonian and AFC Wimbledon to watch Yeovil Town’s struggle for survival, was miraculous – at least to me.
The good woman and I saw Yeovil Town put in their performance of the season to defeat promotion chasing Wimbledon 3-2.

We were standing behind the dug-outs.perfectly placed to see Liam Walsh thread a perfectly weighted ball into Jack Compton’s path for him to make it 1-1.
And we stood behind him when he bent a free kick from the 35 yards out into the top left hand corner of the net
And we gazed in wonder as he slotted the penalty won by Kevin (run down the wing for me) Dawson.
Ok – so were a bit ropey at the back, missing our captain and defensive organiser Darren Ward. But Tozer,Sokolik and Dolan look a decent unit and with Zoko leading the line, Compton was able to take a more central position and feed off Walsh’s clever work. Darren Way, Yeovil’s new manager gets full marks for turning us into an attacking team, confident in our 4-3-3.

Weasel and the Beast!
It was great to see both Gillett and Dawson on the pitch for the first time in a year.
For the first time in a long time, Yeovil fans are happy. The Yeovil Supporters Trust, set up last week is a step in the right direction, though few would doubt that Yeovil aren’t a community club, fans need better access to the club’s management and greater trust in its owners.
But what can’t be doubted is the bond between player and supporter, witnessed before, during and after the game- at the ground, on twitter and on Facebook.

Sadly my son Olly couldn’t be with us, singing at evensong at Oxford. We’ve been to Plymouth, Leyton and the Huish over the past few weeks and seen our team emerge from the darkest days – it was a shame he couldn’t see this wonderful game!
But in his absence, his team knocked in another five goals and now have scored 18 goals in the first three matches of the season
