New PMI Board members and President – nothing wrong with this lot!

There’s nothing wrong with the PMI and it continues to attract the right people to its non-executive team.

As it says of itself

The PMI is the professional body which supports and develops the experts who run UK pension schemes. It has the broadest skills base of pensions professionals and trustees in the UK, with some 7,431 members dedicated to establishing, maintaining and advancing the highest levels of pensions knowledge. PMI members are responsible for managing and advising some of the largest institutions in the world and taking key decisions on substantial financial matters. With well over £1 trillion invested in UK pensions, PMI members have a vital role to play in shaping the nation’s financial future. With 48 years of successful operation behind it, the PMI is an organisation at the cutting edge of pensions. It’s Chair is Ruston Smith and its Directors are supplemented by Rachika Cooray, a partner at LCP who has been reappointed

You can read all about this lot if you don’t already know them here.  The corporate team and the full Board can be found here

There is a solidity to Pensions because of the PMI who offer to a vast array of professionals a professionalism that cannot be found elsewhere. The PMI will continue and maintain standards we can be proud of . The President and the new and reappointed Board members on September 11th are a value to our industry.

It is a professional body and not a trade association and it brings a different set of standards to our work from Pensions UK. Not so many years ago the two organisations thought of merging. They didn’t and I think the way that PMI has recovered its strength is remarkable.

There is very little said of this as I suspect that those involved in either or both organisations may have difficulty have distance from them to see this. I am not a member of Pensions UK or PMI and can be dispassionate. Their improvement over the last ten years is leading to a better pension set up. It is particularly to see this of the PMI.
