A storm-busting performance by Con Keating and William McGrath helps us understand how so much money is lost by the wrong decisions in what is known as the end-game.
Don’t be fooled by the cheerful bro Zuu, there is a lot of money being spent on “de-risking” or more exactly on what is considered a risk free position.
The risk free position adopted by Honda cost the company, its staff and its pensioners £500. At least that’s the amount extra contributed by Honda to get it locked down by insurance relative to a firm with the same financial challenge in 2018 which didn’t de-risk but chose instead to invest its way our of difficulty. This it did, happily. We were made to feel sorry in this hour long presentation for all parties to the Honda fiasco. Even though Honda will pay its pensions the £500m lost unnecessarily, has left the town of Swindon with little to say for Honda having been its principal industrial driver.
There is a lot in this seminar to watch, it is x-rated for those with a timorous outlook , many of the slides and much of the delivery is uncompromising.
