“So help us God” is the headline that the Star leads with and as Dotun Adebayo points out on Radio 5 it  is a headline of genius. The Star is very approving of the manner that Trump adopts second time around

“So help us God” is of course a call within the inauguration to help a Christian president and Trump has shown himself a pantomime Christian, he is both horrific and funny

If we react to what we see, then the Star is spot on, he is playing to the Christianity of the inauguration but we can’t take it seriously and for millions of people directly threatened by his policies, the humour and the rhetoric leave them helping God.

An inability to find a proper response from our liberal society echoes around me. At our chapel , in the sermon, our deacon simply couldn’t say what she meant but we knew she had words that couldn’t be shared in the pulpit.

I realised as I read the Guardian’s report that this world is not owned by liberal democrats either in America or Europe

Half the company that I run live in India, this photo from the Guardian says a lot, India has more than a billion people and may well take over from America and China as the most powerful nation in our lifetimes.

We do not know what will happen , but we pray and laugh.

So help us God!
