Engaging with managers can be time-consuming and complex for trustees. In this session, Peter Abrahams will give a demo of LCP’s Stewardship Dashboard, which helps asset owners better understand issues at key companies in their listed equity and bond portfolios, and how their managers are addressing these. The tool presents investment managers’ voting records in a user-friendly, engaging and easily digestible format.

Systemic risks such as climate change and nature loss are sources of financially material risks and opportunities that asset owners should consider. These risks must be addressed at the company level; unfortunately, many companies are lagging. Shareholder voting is a key tool for managers to influence companies; but it may not be clear to trustees what their investment managers are doing to address the issue. Often, an investment manager’s own reporting can seem too high level to assess quality, or too narrowly focused to get a handle on a manager’s overall impact.

Peter Abrahams is a Principal at LCP, having joined the firm in 2013. He advises a range of clients, including UK DB and DC pension schemes, as well as sovereign wealth funds. Peter is a senior member of LCP’s equity manager research team. He designed LCP’s responsible investment manager research process for all asset classes, which includes assessing investment managers’ voting and engagement practices.
