Brilliant video by @FreeLeasehlders with a shocking story of cruel and greedy landlords, sensitively handled by Nicola. https://t.co/8LsEYteAB7

If you have trouble with the sound, here it is on YouTube
“There is no economic or financial justification for forfeiture to exist”
Many pension schemes own freeholds through funds managed to offer pension schemes gilts + income streams.
Many pension schemes are committed to environmental and societal improvement and good governance (ESG)
So how come the feudal system of forfeiture persists and remains one of the ways such funds can increase returns to pension schemes.
Watch this video and if you are in pension investment, ask yourself if you have ever recommended a freehold fund. If you are a trustee, do freeholds form part of your portfolio, if you are a member , ask if your financial security is being granted by investing in freeholds.
If you find you are investing or have advised on these investments, it’s down to you to check whether your money/fund has ever benefited from “forfeiture”. If it has, then ask to divest yourself of such investments and join RailPen and other conscientious pension funds that will have no truck with such practice.
