My regular readers may be surprised there has been no blog from me for the last two day.Let me explain. I have had a marvelous adventure involving a seizure, a fall, the arrival of the police and ambulance, an airlift by helicopter from Eton to Oxford’s Radcliffe hospital and 48 hours recovery in the arms of the NHS.
There is a video of my fall, following a kind of fainting, it is too gruesome for me to be shown and only the police, ambulance people, family and neighbours have seen it. But I am told I fell onto a West Stand Chelsea Chair which sits on our patio, a gift of 20 years by my partner when we had a brief flirtation with that football club.
Some evidence of what the fall has done is clear to see and as I have no intention of withdrawing from my public role I thought it would be as well to show my new face!
It’s unreal that I had the ambulance with me in ten minutes of being found and the police even sooner (who had been warned of a “domestic”. It was great to have an air ambulance to take me to Oxford which is know for its skills in head and neurological injuries. If I had fallen the other side of the Thames it might have been my native London and one of the several hospitals to which I’m familiar.
Now back to work. We have a pension system to upgrade. We need collective pensions and that means CDC proprietors. This country only has 3 prospective schemes (before 2028) and we aren’t going to be impacted one bit. Immediately before my fall, I had been talking to a friend and client about prospects in 2027 and that’s what I intend to do with many others before Christmas. We are lucky to have a CDC scheme that’s well advanced and I hope to be able to speak more about us shortly.
For now, we can thank the good lord that I had all the help in getting to hospital and the care from its Intensive Care Unit who I will not forget!
