It’s interesting to hear from John Ball, the CEO of the Church of England Pensions Board
I have been hearing over the past few years about the Church’s intention to launch a CDC plan on a non-commercial basis. John mentions that there are a “myriad” of employers who fall within his responsibilities
It is good to hear John explaining what he is doing in readiness for authorisation. It sounds like Church of England are being cautious but the its Pension Board is moving towards authorisation as a multi-employer fund.
Talking with John is Massi Delle Donne, Sophie Dapin and Muirinn O’Neill of BlackRock. Here is how they introduce the podcast.
As Collective Defined Contribution (CDC) moves closer to becoming a reality, the focus is shifting from policy design to practical implementation. In this episode, John Ball, CEO of the Church of England Pensions Board, joins Massi Delle Donne, Managing Director, Institutional Client Specialist at BlackRock, to explore whether CDC can deliver more predictable retirement income and better member outcomes. With the Church of England actively considering CDC, John shares his perspective on the opportunities, challenges and key decisions involved in turning the concept into a working scheme.
It is encouraging to hear of organisations such as BlackRock and Church of England talking with each other about implementing CDC.
Here is another brilliant talk from Massi , Sophie and this time Ian McLellan of ISIO, an organisation I hope we’ll hear much from on CDC over the months and years to come.
