Let me explain.

Yesterday evening I was sitting smug that Yeovil had won , heart beating after Chelsea and West Ham had knocked six bells out of each other when my phone beeped – a message from my friend who’s a multiple Tottenham ticket holder – could I get to the ground for 4.30 tomorrow (now today)? I looked up the game. Though I’d not made it to Telford to watch Yeovil, I could make it to Tottenham to watch them against Tottenham and boy did I say thank you.
This is called climbing the pyramid! There is life at the bottom! Here are our fans at Telford, braving the weather that has battered Somerset to get to Telford

This their reward. Thanks Ethan King for this great post on Feb 1st!
Great result for #YTFC today, avoided a potential banana skin that saw #FGR and #IRON succumbed to today. Two wins away from Wembley for the Glovers🧤#IsuzuFATrophy https://t.co/bi8dVFiflb

From Telford to Wembley is possible and thanks to Telford for letting this go ahead!
And so to Tottenham
I might have watched it on the TV, I will watch it from the comfort of a stand that serves fans drinks and food as part of the ticket deal. It is the first of February and I imagine a few were dry in January and won’t be dry today. It will be my 16th month off the hooch and I hope my first month without a seizure as new drugs cut in.
I know the Tottenham fans have reason to feel second class compared with their biggest north London rivals but let me remind you that Borehamwood are top of the National League and they lead Yeovil’s league! We all have burdens from north London rivals!
As for Manchester City, my mind goes back to the day City fans walked out of Wembley with their side 0-2 down with two minutes to go, only for them to level it as they walked away, winning the game on penalties.
Nicky Weaver’s antics after he saved the last penalty are what stick with me, that and that this was in 1999.Yesterday Gillingham FC lost 1-4 to Bromley into league 2 (that play off was to get into what is now the Championship)
Manchester City have had bad times and within memory for those of my age. They are a brilliant side now but they weren’t then.
Steve, the brilliant actuary and City fan wrote about lows, highs and balti pies (still available) and followed up with this- which sums it all up.
We lost touch at some point – I wish you well – charming man!
There should be a Balti stall outside White Hart Lane.

You can still buy both paperbacks here..
My brain will be with Tottenham this evening , but a little bit of my heart will be with the Man City of Maine Road, just as the sloping pitch will be most people’s memory of Yeovil Town!
Tottenham could be the best team in Europe at the end of the season, Yeovil could have won at Wembley, then again…
Football is always in anticipation , seldom anticipation fulfilled. But I have followed Yeovil to Wembley once to do just what Manchester City did in 1999 – we are all on the same pyramid.
Manchester City won’t ruin my diet this afternoon – I will eat proper thanks to my mate!
We all keep smiling, however we eat.
