BP Pensioner Group is a collection of mature workers looking to protect BP pensions.
I support BP Pensioner Group for two reasons
- BP pensioners and deferred pensioners deserve better from their trustees and their sponsor- BP
- The rights of ordinary members are primary but are often put at the back of the queue when businesses consider their pension strategy.
John Furniss-Wright is ripping into BP for spouting platitudes while walking away from promises to those less socially mobile than BP’s younger executive.
The work of people like John Furniss -Wright, as featured in these two pieces demonstrates that when pensioners mobilize with clear intent and with persistence, their arguments become irresistible over time.
I do not need to point out that Louise Kingham is having words put in her mouth (in the picture immediately below) . But I am sure that her admiration for recent clean energy scholars should extend to sympathising with the anonymous pensioners, disappointed with what they are finding.
It is easy to run a company for tomorrow’s workers but is should be obvious to current executives that they are standing on the shoulders of those who came before who should not be forgotten.
We can and should campaign for the proper use of pensions. BP’s strong financial strength and its pension scheme, in rude health, should lead to the payment of proper increases – not what the company can get away with.
Here is how Louise projects herself on social media

Here is how the BP Action Group project her comments against BP’s actions.

I have tracked down another article from another BP executive claiming BP put people first

Kerry Dryburgh’s comments were made made on Linked in. Here is how she promoted BP using an article in the Times.
I can understand John Furniss-Wright’s frustration that shallow comments are at odds with actual behaviour. This is an issue that I hear amongst a lot of working people for whom liberal attitudes (referred to as “woke”) are at odds with business practice.
Here is John, speaking on behalf of the BP Pension Group , also on Linked in..
It’s the numbers not the platitudes that count and it’s time that BP recognised that social mobility can go down as well as up. The BP Pensioner Group need to be rewarded as expected and see the fruits of their labour – as promised.
