John M Clancy- LGPS in the cross-hairs

The PLSA coming up in a couple of weeks will not feature views like those in John M Clancy’s blogs. That’s because John does not have to protect anyone, except the general tax-payer, the council tax-payer and the interests of members of LGPS.

The blog linked to this advert from John is so incendiary that I will not put it on my blog!

But you can read it from this link or the one John leaves on his post.

It is a bit difficult to separate out the practical situation from the strident criticism of individuals and organisations. I wonder if Con Keating and Iain Clacher have done any analysis of LGPS funding and possible changes to their funding and investments.

I don’t think Con and Iain need to look here.

The LGPS Scheme Advisory Board has access to all triennials and the data seems far more reliable than over in private sector DB land where TPR (and to a lesser extent PPF) seem to make up “roll forward” numbers for the near 5,000 surviving schemes, using dodgy assumptions and flawed modelling.

Con and Iain try to reconcile these numbers with NAO survey sampling and find very significant differences, ie in the private sector universe.
