I am amazed to find out just how much food is thrown away here in the City of London. I found out from this bunch that I could become a food-saving hero by swiping my phone. To all, like me, who want Britain to be more financially sensible and make more of what it has, please read on!

Too good to go offer people who live and/or work in a built up area , easy access to shops that participate, there are loads in the City of London
- What
- Where
Within a couple of hundred yards, even on a Sunday , is a plethora of outlets selling for immediate collection the food that diners didn’t eat at breakfast this morning.
Now I don’t want to be skimpy but I heard of this from my partner who heard from the church and I told my son who told me that he already ate his lunches at work from food that had not been sold that morning in cafes near where he works (Bank).
I have discovered that there’s action happening in lots of cities other than the City of London! You can try it out on where you are.

He’s right, I’m at the back of the queue but loving it.

We’ve had breakfast and lunch this weekend using food cooked for those for whom £3.50 isn’t too much for a croissant of coffee. We are exploring the chance to have a large number of cans of baked beans delivered to the door (did you know they cost £1.55 each in Sainsburys).
Let’s not mess about here, if this food does not get bought by us , it will get thrown away. Well I hope it won’t, I hope it will be given to people who really need it. I was speaking to someone just now who was making his way through a tray full of goodies and it turned out he does not have a proper place to sleep but has a tent outside what was the KPMG Puddle dock office (now a wreck awaiting replacement some time next decade).
I hope, as he told me, he got the tray of donuts free, that is a delight and I want more of that.
Why do I call this blog “productive at the desk”? It is because we can do a lot more with our money and our time than waste it on things that don’t get eaten. Rather than sending all the stuff that gets produced only to be thrown away, let’s see if we can get more of our production put to good use.
There, I’ve had enough. I don’t think I’d get to the end of this blog without a call to good sense.

Share what you are wasting, buy what others would throw away and make our thriftiness a virtue rather than something to be scorned!
