Jo Cumbo’s last word on political interference in investment of our money.

Jo’s closing speech in a debate with Will Hutton at the Manchester Pension UK conference last week.

I made my comment on the day that I thought Will Hutton won it with the opening speech, frankly I don’t think that the backstop is the problem Jo does. But her final speech was good and it deserves more than a linked in post.

So I use the space of this blog to expand the speech to something easier to read. In reading it , I thought a lot about what the relationship of Government to private pensions should be. Out of the calibre of her presentation, Cumbo clawed her argument back and she had the majority of the Hall with her. She didn’t have me (nor her colleague sitting next to me) but it’s not what I thought or what the Hall thought but what you think that matters. I hope that Pensions UK will eventually allow the video of the event to be watched by everyone.

These pages are hard to read on Linked in, here they are cut onto this blog; thank to Will Hutton, Jo Cumbo and Gregg McClymont for refereeing!
