Down and out of financial services

Charles Randell has brought to our attention, work published by the FCA and carried out by volunteers keen for us to understand what happens if you aren’t in the financial services catchment zone – put another way – when you’re “down and out” of financial services.

Commissioner at Financial Inclusion Commission

This research on financial exclusion experienced by the most vulnerable groups (homeless, ex-offenders, asylum seekers, care leavers) is interesting and congratulations to the Financial Conduct Authority for commissioning it.

It’s complementary to the recent CHASM – Centre on Household Assets and Savings Management report for the Financial Inclusion Commission, about which more soon. Both reports are based on lived experience, which ensures that findings reflect the reality of the users’ lives.

If you find the report difficult to read on this page, you can download it here.

The report highlights the fantastic work that voluntary organisations do to support these very vulnerable people

Thanks to those organisations.
