Productivity at Tapper towers was hampered lat week when post supper homework was ditched fro two hours per night of Britain’s got talent, a showcase for manufactured acts flown in from abroad.
In the end , the public went for authenticity over professionalism and chose Sydnie Christmas who belted out My Way and Over the Rainbow to cruise ship standard and backed up her act with a winning smile and some self-deprecating wit.
We like humility, authenticity and fun – it was good to see our l favorites, Ghanaian Mum and daughter combo Abigail & Afronitaaa, but opera is a no-no as are dance troupes , sword swallowing and skipping acts.
Was all that watching worth it? Most definitely not! But it had become compelling enough for me to put a note in diary not to do this again. The quality of the experience from BGT may be high relative to what you get on Tic Toc and You Tube, but it’s a waste of time.
Unfortunately, the note to self that I put in my diary last year has just swum to the front of mind
Don’t watch Britain’s got talent
