Johnny Timpson; Deliberative Democracy – part of financial inclusion

I have written that I am sceptical of Democratic Deliberation that advertises itself promoting  “public involvement in ‘pensions crisis’ “

But there is much good that can be done through Deliberative Democracy and here is what Johnny Timpson think that it can do.

I have written elsewhere that just as there are people who want to financially include people, so there are many who would like to be left alone and not be bothered by pension except to work out what goes in and what goes out.

I was in a union meeting last week with over 60 people. They wanted to discuss collective bargaining on behalf of the thousands of people they represented. I spoke to a group afterwards about targeted support , one replied to me that targeted support was the financial industry’s new method of “coercion”. There are radically different views on how we make things better and I’m of the view that most people want change worked out for them.

My worry is that any group of people can be coerced into saying what we want them to say, We have leaders like Martin Lewis and Johnny Timpson and some of the others in Johnny’s list below. We can work from within while others work outside the pensions bubble.

I would have Johnny Timpson as someone who talks both to the pensions industry and a wider audience which I will give him prominence in promoting how Deliberative Democracy could work for pensions. I am prepared to go with him

This is what we gave the man an OBE for

Johnny Timpson gets his OBE

This is what is being promoted for pensions by Johnny and others
