Matt Setchell from Octopus Energy Generation (part of  Octopus Energy) will be presenting his opinions on accessing private market funds.

In these uncertain markets, investors are looking for ways to allocate to uncorrelated private market strategies. However, the complexity to access and the lack of liquidity in these funds can be a challenge for investors, who might require more visibility on how they will be able to liquidate their investment within shorter timeframes than the typical life of private market funds.

At the same time, there is a £212tn funding requirement to deliver the energy transition – this offers a large range of different risk and return profiles that will appeal to different investor appetites. It is clearly a huge opportunity but requires a deep, specialist understanding of the broader energy sector across markets, to separate the attractive investment opportunities from the hype.
