As many of you will know, Lady Lucy is a 72 year old mahogany motor cruiser which has been classic boat of the year. Here she is
For fifteen years I have been taking people out for day cruises at weekends. We seem to get all kinds – this weekend we had people who originated in New Zealand, India , Somalia and Slough!
This year , the boat will be going out every day of the Henley Royal Regatta and will pass the boats as they race up the 2000m course (many times). We have full boats most days but strangely, nobody coming on Wednesday 29th June.
It struck me that some organisation or other , or some person with a group of friends, might like to put together a party and book the boat for the day.

You may wonder what the price is for this day out. There isn’t one. Though the commercial rate for boats of this size and quality is around £6,000, I cannot and will not charge for the boat.
So it really is a bit of a bargain!
And now that I have no car, I am really bound to stay in Hurley where the boat is moored on my boat and with the ducks and swans. So it will be a waste of my time if no one comes out on Wednesday.
So consider yourself doing me a favour!
Of course, if you are one of the people who likes to book things and not turn up (we had some on Saturday), then you may think twice about booking the boar, because I am keen to know who is coming!
But the probability is that if you are reading my blog, we know each other, or should do and I very much doubt that you’d take the piss out of an old bloke with a boat, trying to make the world a little brighter!
